Black Eagles FC
Black Eagles Academy (BEA)
Educating and developing future potential through local, accessible, high-quality football training — alongside grassroots and school football.
Launch
Black Eagles Academy (BEA) was officially launched on 1 October 2025 at Zwelitsha Sport Complex, where young players conduct their training. The launch was led by the Chairman together with executive members and the coaching staff.
The main purpose of the academy is to support the education and development of young players from around Zwelitsha: to educate and develop future potential by providing local, accessible, high-quality training environments. Black Eagles Academy offers expert coaching, increased playing time, and varied football formats, and allows players to take part in both Academy and grassroots club or school football — so experiences stay varied and well rounded.
Our goals
- 1.Grow the number of players in our region who receive high-quality, expert coaching in a strong environment — building a bigger talent pipeline and more chances for selection and progression.
- 2.Make sure any young player with potential can access age-appropriate expert guidance, coaching, and competition.
- 3.Delay formal academy squad selection until players are slightly older, so more children can stay in grassroots football for longer.
- 4.Build a youth-focused learning and training environment that players can access alongside grassroots football.
- 5.Increase playing time and offer varied, enhanced football experiences.
- 6.Improve the quality and diversity of players who progress through the pathway.
Programme at a glance
We deliver football for players aged 6 to 18 as part of a structured development pathway. Training aligns with school holidays and half terms; we also run elements of practice in the summer (without a full games programme running year-round in the same way as the main season). The club may switch venues from time to time so all parts of our catchment area are served.
- Contact time: each centre offers accessible weekly training. We deliver a minimum of one session per week of at least 1 hour per session for our wider programme.
- Academy groups: typically three sessions per week, at least three hours in total (about one hour per session).
- Season length: we aim to operate for a minimum of 39 weeks per year, in line with the plan above.
- Physical development: age-appropriate strength, conditioning, and physical literacy for Academy players; for other players, this is woven into practical training as part of the wider curriculum.
- Goalkeeping is provided within practical training hours, aligned with the wider curriculum.
Holistic coaching programme
Black Eagles Academy provides a high-quality training environment within a holistic development programme — not only technical and physical football, but support for the whole player.
- Technical and physical curriculum for all players, based on age and stage and long-term player development (LTPD) principles.
- Where appropriate, we look to offer extra challenges for high-performing players — for example age-group flexibility, bio-banding, mixed formats, and links with partner clubs where possible.
- Psychological and social development support for players, parents and carers, and staff.
- Education and lifestyle support for players, parents and carers, and staff.
- An optional Individual Player Development Plan (IDP) for self-reflection and personal goals.
Safeguarding
Safeguarding is central to how we work. Black Eagles Football Club is committed to providing a safe environment for every young player. We involve suitably experienced and qualified people across the club, supported by appropriate policies and procedures. Further detail can be shared with families on request.
Registration, recruitment & selection
We aim to break down barriers to participation, improve access, and be open and transparent about how selection decisions are made. The club supports players to progress through the pathway and helps signpost exit routes when another environment is a better fit.
